Ora Cogan will release her latest album, Hard Hearted Woman, on March 13 via Sacred Bones. Following up on her 2025 EP, Bury Me, Cogan will once again offer a collection of songs focused on genre subversion and driven by pure instinct. The album was conceived through cold water exercises, twilight reflection, and the passage of empty roads winding through the Lillooet landscape (buried deep in the British Columbia wilderness) where she anchored herself as these ideas were realized.
She worked with David Parry (Loving) and Tom Weis to carve out these vignettes, layering stark country bruises, moments of psych rock theatricality, and spectral folk frequencies into a compendium of musical revelations encouraged through the examination of countless foundational experiences. On lead single, Honey,” she allows twangy strands of country melodies to merge with shuffling indie rock rhythms, a gently billowing amalgam of sound that immediately piques our curiosity while also offering a deeper emotional gravity well into which we feel drawn. It’s inescapable, but that’s alright — Cogan is there to offer safe passage.
The song comes paired with a video directed by Paloma Ruiz-Hernandez, who explains: “The idea was to enter into an existence of absurdity where everyone is simultaneously isolated in their own loneliness and drowning in collective longing and lust.”
