LA artist Jessica Vaughn (aka LACES) is one of the most gifted lyricists in pop today. Her new single “Open For Business” is an anthem for those who feel frazzled and fractured, yet find the courage to step into an uncertain future to find healing.
The song has the melodic hookiness of Lady Gaga’s “Marry The Night”, and the accompanying video features LACES’ energetic choreography that feels totally spontaneous, not staged.
“‘Open for Business’ was birthed in trauma and raised in personal growth,” says LACES. “We build walls to protect ourselves, but at some point, those walls keep us from evolving. This song is about making friends with the survivor inside you—holding their hand and saying, it’s okay to try another way.”
It’s likely that you’ve already heard LACES’ music in hit TV shows like Lucifer and Grey’s Anatomy. Now one of the brightest lights in the sync world has released this ode to resilience that’s one of the most memorable songs of the year.
