Earlier this week Arcade Fire updated their site which included a banner with the word “Suburbs” on it. It was first speculated to possibly be their next album title, but the banner was pulled down quickly thereafter and the bands rep denied it was the album title. Thanks to some good sleuthing by a fan, it was discovered that a listing on Amazon popped up showing a single called “Suburbs” would be released on June 1st. The bands reps were quick to shoot down the listing, calling it “incorrect” and that it would be pulled down soon.
Our take: something is going to be released soon. The fact that a “Suburbs” banner was posted on the bands official site, then a listing on Amazon is too much coincidence. Perhaps the most damning evidence is the new Promo Photo of the band, which features silhouettes of them in front of a Suburban housing track. We will keep updating this page as we get more info. The band might be tight lipped, but expect some sort of announcement at least in the coming months.
