Since Wild Beasts came to an unfortunate end, Hayden Thorpe has kept quite busy, delivering his debut solo album Diviner in 2019, and swiftly following it up with an EP, Aerial Songs, in 2020. Well, for those hungry for more, you didn’t have long to wait at all, as he’s back again with his sophomore LP, Moondust For My Diamond, which arrives on October 15 through Domino.
In contrast to his debut’s solitary, stately nature, if lead single, “The Universe is Always Right” is any sign, his latest work will be more immediate, while still possessing his trademark gentle sensuality.
Speaking on the album, Thorpe reflects, “What about nature? What about the cosmos? What about all these things that break through the tyranny of the self? Our sense organs bring the world inside of us after all, I just had to sing it back out. I was enchanted again with the mystery of science and how I might speak from the heart in an age where metric is gospel.“
