Windows share remotely written and recorded singles “Send It” and “Up All Night” (BPM Premiere)

Windows is the new project of Matteo Arias (Mystic Braves/Golden Animals), along with Spencer Alarcon and Australian bassist Sam Wotherspoon. Since the release of debut single “The Ballad of Whiskey Pete” last year, they have now added Julian Ducatenzeiler (also of Mystic Braves) and producer Ian Doer.

They had hoped to release their debut album this spring, but what with everything going on, it wasn’t feasible. Windows weren’t content to just sit and wait it out though, so they wrote and recorded a couple of new songs in quarantine. “Send It” and “Up All Night” will be released tomorrow with all proceeds from their Bandcamp sales going to the LA chapter of Black Lives Matter, but you can hear them both here first.

About the process, Matteo Arias says:

“It was a welcome challenge to create something meaningful with our friends while in quarantine. “Sending” takes and mixes back and forth, trying to get the right sound with the limited tools we had in our homes. It truly was an isolation collaboration. It’s not an easy time to be alive, the world is pretty broken and there is no end in sight, we hope these tunes can lift some of that weight off people’s shoulders and provide a moment of solace.”

Unsurprisingly, both “Send It” and “Up All Night” are a bit more lo-fi than their debut single, but that only speaks to the unique process and the band’s determination to see it through. What’s more, it doesn’t take away from Windows’ throwback style, which puts you straight in the passenger seat on a 20th century road trip across the USA; there’s no destination planned, you’re just there to enjoy the tunes and the views.

Both “Send It” and “Up All Night” come with artwork specially designed by Willow J. Flores from the Spanish band The Parrots, which you can see below. Both songs will be available to purchase from Windows’ Bandcamp from tomorrow.
