The FBR share the roots-rock gem “Empty Room”

If you love bluesy music in the style of Tedeschi Trucks Band, Delaney & Bonnie and Amy Winehouse, donโ€™t miss the new single โ€œEmpty Roomโ€ from Nashville duo The FBR. The groupโ€™s name is a nod to Leonard Cohenโ€™s โ€œFamous Blue Raincoatโ€, but in my mind it stands for โ€œFrickinโ€™ Brilliant Rootsโ€ music.

The FBR coalesced when Malarie McConaha and Tim Hunter met at an open mic night. Tim is a literary scholar who no doubt read a lot of Flannery Oโ€™Connorโ€™s work because the duoโ€™s previous single is a Southern Gothic saga called โ€œBefore I Drownโ€. The group is finalizing a debut album called Ghost that arrives in January.

The song โ€œEmpty Roomโ€ took shape when Malarie and Tim had to spend some unexpected time apart. Says Malarie: โ€œIt was a monumental moment for me, being able to be vulnerable enough to express my struggles and for both of us to be able to communicate it through a song.โ€
