The All-American Rejects return with a cover of “Flagpole Sitta”

The All-American Rejects burst on the alternative scene in 2002, but they took a decade off from headlining until last yearโ€™s Wet Hot All-American Summer Tour. Now, the quartet has released a high-octane version of Harvey Dangerโ€™s โ€œFlagpole Sittaโ€.

Reflecting on the new single, the band says, โ€œWe’ve always felt that if an idea survives a hangover, then itโ€™s probably a good one. โ€˜Flagpole Sittaโ€™ was such an idea, born of a late-night, post-show, adrenaline-fueled drive. We recorded it because we wanted to see how it would fall out of us on the floor โ€“ either like a hot bag of shit, or a vibe. It was also a good excuse to see if the four of us could stand each other for a week in the studio after seven years of silence. Turns out it was alright.โ€

The Rejects will play When We Were Young Fest in Las Vegas in a few weeks, alongside My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy and many other notables from yesteryear.

โ€œAs for what comes next, we will leave that up to the divine feminine,โ€ says the band. โ€œIf she wants it, sheโ€™ll get it.โ€
