Super City share the smart and hooky “Hang Up”

โ€œHang Upโ€ from Baltimore band Super City is about a telephonic disconnect, not a psychological condition. Itโ€™s the ultimate Thinking Personโ€™s dance cut that will remind you of Blur, Gorillaz and Talking Heads.

This type of smart-rock has been notably absent from the charts in recent years, and it sounds fabulous. The crisp guitars and inviting synth work provide an excellent foundation โ€“ and the songโ€™s video has a David Lynch-like feel. Lead singer/guitarist Greg Wellham gets most of the screen time, and he even looks like a young David Lynch in suit and tie.

The song is the perfect preview for the bandโ€™s In The Midnight Room album that arrives on October 20 on SofaBurn Records.

Baltimore has given us musical greatness before: Philip Glass, Billie Holiday, Tori Amos and more. Super City now wears the crown, and they have the talent to spark a brainy-band revival.
