LA indie pop artist Ryn Nicoleโs new single โAnxietyโ chronicles what itโs like to be lonely in the city of Angels while her ex is half a world away in Thailand. The singer-songwriter, who recently featured on Bernerโs rap single โZoningโ, delivers an ultra-convincing vocal and some of the best lyrics of the year, including โYou been flyinโ overseas while I been stuck in the city calling Uber Eats.โ
The artist recalls: โI was at home, sitting on my couch in the middle of one of those chaotic moments where you question everything you have done and are doing with your life, when my ex called me to catch up. He told me how great he’d been doing, that he’d finally gotten his passport, and that he and his girlfriend were headed to Thailand the next month to celebrate her birthday. It had been my dream for years to go to Asia. I wrote the song as soon as I got off the phone. The next day I booked a solo trip to Thailand.โ
โAnxietyโ soars thanks to Rynโs hypnotic voice. โTwo of my all-time favorite vocalists are Lauryn Hill and Hayley Williams of Paramore,โ she says. โI love a unique-sounding vocal with a distinct texture.โ
Ryn Nicole is a globe-hopping talent who is fluent in both English and Spanish and has lived for extended periods in Spain and Cuba. Like her previous single โWhat Not To Doโ, โAnxietyโ is a plaintive, hook-laden gem that signals great things to come. Whether you see her perform in LA, Thailand or Spain, youโll be mesmerized by her voice and lyrical gifts. Listen to โAnxietyโ below or find it on streaming services.
