Roses and Roses bring retro groove to “Losing It”

LA five-member band Roses And Roses are a much mellower ride than Guns Nโ€™ Roses. The group is fronted by vocalist/songwriter Crystal Speros, who brings a 70s-style charm to the new single โ€œLosing Itโ€. The rich harmonies on the bandโ€™s new EP Touching The Sun are reminiscent of Linda Ronstadt and the brief-yet-memorable career of Nicolette Larson.

Says Speros: โ€œIn โ€˜Losing Itโ€™, I realize that my sense of self has been clouded by pressures I take on to live up to societyโ€™s grind โ€“ an attempt at climbing an impossibly tall ladder.

“Every day is an effort to break ladders and instead find pathways.โ€

The new EP is a โ€œcoming homeโ€ story because the group consists mainly of native southern Californians who relocated to Brooklyn before returning to the Golden State last year. One spin of this EP is like taking a journey back in time to the days when Glenn Frey and Don Henley were in Linda Ronstadtโ€™s touring band. Touching The Sun proves that laidback music can still offer powerful insights.
