Meg Washington finds island bliss on “Shangri-La”

Even though the fictional Shangri-La is technically in the Himalayas somewhere, Meg Washington takes us to a subtropical island off Australiaโ€™s east coast for her version of โ€œShangri-Laโ€. Itโ€™s the first single from her upcoming fifth studio album โ€“ and the song indeed has a tropical sizzle. In the video for the song, Meg and two lithe dancers take the heat up a notch on the fabulous bridge.

Washington is an icon in Australia, having won three prestigious ARIA awards. The new single was co-written by producer Ben Edgar (Dope Lemon, Matt Corby).

Meg says, โ€œโ€˜Shangri-Laโ€™ is an ode to horniness. Itโ€™s about being hungry for and open to life and about enjoying pleasure as much as possible. Itโ€™s about ignoring the machine and going deeper into the present moment to remember that we are all part of nature, and that nature is horny AF.โ€

If youโ€™re a fan of Bryan Ferryโ€™s sensuous songs, โ€œShangri-Laโ€ is the female version โ€“ rhythmic and intoxicating.
