Lynks pines for their instructor on the tickling “Tennis Song”

We’re now less than a month away from the release of Lynks‘ much anticipated debut album Abomination. With four songs from it already out in the world, they’re still unloading the goodies with a new single called “Tennis Song”

Whereas most of Lynks’ songs are an intense dance-pop workout, “Tennis Song” is a trilling and slightly twee little alt-pop bop. The arrangement features a simple drum machine click and chintzy synths glazed with lovey-dovey harmonies. It’s perfectly low key setting for this tale of Lynks falling in love with their strapping tennis instructor, despite him being straight. They’re so infatuated that they go so far as admitting “you made a gay boy love sports / that’s not easy to do / but you did it”. Predictably, their love goes unreturned and when they see the instructor with another partner it leaves Lynks full of regret and longing – which soon turns to loathing for tennis. A typically chucklesome Lynks tune with a different approach, it goes to show that Abomination is going to be packed with surprises.

Check out “Tennis Song” below or find it on streamers.
