Dad Rock. Coffee Shop Folk. Ryan Adams. These are scary-ass terms. And, The Head And The Heart could easily be slapped with comparisons to these. But that would ignore just how good “Down In The Valley” is. Rarely does a song come around from a band you have never heard of that is instantly as grabbing as this album cut from the group’s debut, titled The Head And The Heart. Yeah, it’s the name of the band and the name of the album. Trailblazers.
Now if you love this song, you may want to hear more from this group. Luckily, the record is out now digitally, though it will not receive a physical release until Record Store Day on April 16th. The album will be out on Sub Pop and the group has a load of tour dates scheduled, which are printed below. Note the opening slots for Dr. Dog and for The Walkmen. Not toying around.
