Grete is a 24-year-old Lithuanian-born, UK-based artist who is classically trained yet swerves onto the rock Autobahn with her new single “Parade”.
Mind you, this is truly rock, not pop. The soaring chorus sounds a bit like Wolf Alice and Paramore at their best. “Parade” has an Ellie Rowsell-like combo of powerhouse vocals and earnest lyrics. Grete clearly prefers to parade her authentic self, not one that aligns with societal stereotypes.
“Parade” is being considered as a candidate for Lithuania’s official song in Eurovision, which would be a big improvement on the overly theatrical hyperpop songs that dominate that competition.
Like most parades, Greta’s features high-energy music that’s guaranteed to wow onlookers and listeners alike.
