LA band All Things Blue, led by India Coombs (or simply, Blue), recently caught our attention with the song “Chad”, and today they’re announcing the release of their debut album. It’s called Get Bit and is coming out on October 30. They’ve also shared a new song called “Dicking Around” which they introduce by saying:
“The phenomenon Edgar Allen Poe once coined ‘the imp of the perverse’ rang true to me as a strong parallel of the tone in Dicking Around. The mind can be surprising without what feels like the ability to help it. I wrote this as a wrap for thoughts of acting on my own worst impulses despite recognising they’re naughty hehe.”
“Dicking Around” once again shows off All Things Blue’s many strengths; dreamy and detailed instrumentation, which invites you to relax into it, and Coombs’ characterful voice and lyricism. It comes together in “Dicking Around” to perfectly capture the idea behind the song; feeling like you have a million thoughts in your head and no filter or way to stop them from piling up. Coombs’ admission in the chorus “where’s my mind? I don’t know / I don’t care, so I let go,” captures that feeling of giving no shits – even when you know you really should try a bit harder to be mature. But, when it sounds as lighthearted and fun as this, why wouldn’t you just roll with it?
