Backing away a bit from their jam band roots, Sweet Knievel’s latest single from their upcoming (Jan. 29th) debut Collapsible is a cover of “The Horror” by RJD2 (off his Deadringer album). The horror-flick organ and squealching guitar lines seem pulled straight from some James Bond film and are desperately in search of something to soundtrack. But like RJD2’s original, this song was always going to inspire thoughts of associative actions–some clandestine meeting or grand heist gone wrong set to a propulsive beat and probably queuing up for some grand climatic action sequence. And even if this track feels like something of an anomaly on their debut, it’s still great to hear the band branching out and incorporating the widely disparate influences that drive them creatively.
Beats Per Minute is pleased to premiere “The Horror” from Sweet Knievel’s upcoming album Collapsible.
