Conveyor are a Brooklyn band that released the lovely EP Sun Ray earlier this year (stream it for free at their Bandcamp). Not ones to sit around and wait to be discovered, the band have been hard at work on more material and today we are giving you a taste of it with the song “Mukraker” – and it’s undoubtedly their best song to date!
“Mukraker” will be released as part of a split 7″ single with Illuminator. If you’d like to know a little more about what you’re getting yourself into before you listen, then just enjoy this excerpt from the press release for the song:
[“Mukraker”] is a droning experiment in melody. The song channels hyperventilating Soviet-era cosmonauts trapped in spiraling death capsules, undocumented heroes propelled towards the infinite birth canal of the universe. The only chord in the song is “A.” The song elicits alpha-wave resonances which trigger neocortical hallucinations when played on repeat for extended lengths of time; sonic stargazing.
Firstly, we’d like to ask if the author of such a magnificent blurb would like to offer his services to BPM. Secondly, if you want a slightly more tangible description then I can tell you that while “Mukraker” is based around a drone-like rhythm and style, the song is also playful and colorful, with comradely lyrics, a killer vocal hook and an intoxicating wave of horns that comes in at the crescendo and takes the song to whole new heights.
Essentially, the only thing left for you to do at this point is to hit play below.
The single will be available from January 2nd on Conveyor’s Bandcamp. While you’re there, you can buy their recommended Sun Ray EP on orange vinyl for $3 off by using the promotional code ‘sunrayholiday’ up until the end of 2011.
2012 is going to be a big year for Conveyor, as they are hard at work on their debut full length. If you’d like to keep up to date with the band then follow them here on Twitter and ‘like’ them here on Facebook. Additionally, if you’re going to be around Brooklyn on January 5th then you can head down to Glasslands Gallery and see them play their first show and get a sneak peak what’s in store from the band.
