Well this one has caught us completely by surprise. We’ve been sitting here eagerly anticipating the release of Arctic Monkeys’ fourth album, set for release by the summer, and here we get a little bonus Alex Turner project.
If we’d been keeping our eye on the British film news we may have anticipated it, but that’s not what we do. Turner’s music soundtracks a film called Submarine the directorial debut of Richard Ayoade, who will be known to most (or most Brits anyway) as Moss from The IT Crowd (or maybe Dean Learner from Garth Merenghi’s Dark Place).
The film has been aired at film festivals and the soundtrack is said to stick to acosutic guitar and piano, along with Turner’s vocals. The soundtrack is produced by James Ford of Simian Mobile Disco, who produced previous Arctic Monkeys songs and is producing the whole of their upcoming album.
Hitfix have confirmed with Arctic Monkeys’ label Domino that they will release the soundtrack digitally on March 14th in the UK and in the USA some time in March.
Track titles confirmed so far are “Stuck on the Puzzle,” “Hiding Tonight,” “Glass in the Park,” “It’s Hard to Get Around the Wind” and “Piledriver Waltz.”
