Mitski and Trafalgar Releasing have announced the limited theatrical release of a new concert film called Mitski: The Land out exclusively in cinemas worldwide on October 22. It was shot over three nights at Atlanta’s Fox Theatre and documents the ferocity and creativity of her live shows, specifically those in support of her 2023 album, The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, where she employed a seven-piece band and onstage choreography developed by Monica Mirabile.
The film was directed by Grant James and mixed by producer Patrick Hyland, both capturing the magic and mystery of Mitski’s live performance and filtering it through the wide-eyed lens of their collaborative cinematic designs. The stage design created by Andi Watson showcases the isolation and austerity reflected in the music’s themes while also allowing for brief moments of connection and personal illumination.
Starting Monday, September 15, you can purchase advance tickets here.
