In yesterday’s copy of the New York Times there was a feature on M.I.A. written by Lynn Hirschberg, which it seems M.I.A. was not too pleased with. The feature was quite in-depth featuring tales from the recording process of M.I.A.’s new record /\/\/\Y/\ on a day to day scale as well as quotes from M.I.A. and others which she evidently feels did not paint a particularly complimentary picture.
As a recompense for what M.I.A. has deemed unfair she has just sent out a tweet on her twitter which features the phone number of Lynn Hirschberg for all of her followers to see and spam if they should feel so obliged. According to Pitchfork the answerphone is already full.
If there’s anything to be learned from this incident it’s that you don’t cross Maya.
UPDATE: M.I.A. now says that the full unedited version of her interview with Lynn Hirschberg will be posted on Neet Recordings’ website this weekend.
