Claire Cottrill aka Clairo has revealed plans for the follow up to her blockbuster debut album; the new record is called Sling and arrives on July 16. Ahead of that, she’s shared the lead single “Blouse”.
Eschewing the electronics that coloured most of Immunity, “Blouse” is an intimate acoustic number full of multi-tracked harmonies and violins that quickly sketch an intimate scene between Clairo and her girlfriend. We’re tucked into Clairo’s inner monologue as she sifts through her doubts about herself and her relationship, which comes to a head in the beautifully frustrated chorus “why do I tell you how I feel / when you’re too busy looking down my blouse?”
