Listen: Bat for Lashes – “Strangelove” (Depeche Mode cover)

Bat for Lashes, otherwise known as Natasha Khan, is a fan of covers. Last year, she did a cover of Radiohead’s “All I Need,” and we’ve heard her take on “Use Somebody” by Kings of Leon. Now we can hear how she interprets Depeche Mode via the song “Strangelove” from the band’s classic 1987 album, Music for the Masses. This cover was intended as a promotion for Gucci Parfums, and while the high-fashion line does include Khan’s version for streaming on their YouTube page, her rendition was not actually chosen for this particular visual ad. The video on the YouTube page features Friendly Fires’ take on the song, which won the honor of being included in the stylish and sexy Frank Miller-directed commercial. According to the page, Khan’s version will be included in the ad for the male version of the same cologne.
