If we’ve learnt anything from The Roots’ live performances over their career it’s that they’re one hell of a bunch of performers. Now we have the pleasure of seeing them play almost nightly on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, but there’s something special about seeing a band really getting into the mood of playing a song and jamming it out, which you don’t get to see too often on Fallon.
In this video, recorded by Rolling Stone, The Roots along with the musical prowess of the legend Booker T. record an instrumental cover of Lauryn Hill’s classic single “Everything is Everything.” The black and white video accompanying depicts a wonderfully organic recording session with each player getting really into it, especially Booker T., whose blues piano part in this takes it to a whole new level of awesome.
