Video: Wavves records (in a studio!)

We’ve heard quite a bit about the upcoming third Wavves LP, King of the Beach, the so-called “punk record that will define 2010.” You can even hear a song from the album, which is due August 3 on Fat Possum. Judging by “Post Acid,” the new album will have a much cleaner, straightforward pop-punk sound than past releases.

Nathan Williams, now working with Jay Reatard’s old backing band, has said that he’s going to move away from the fuzzy noise that has been the defining characteristic of Wavves records since 2008’s self-titled debut. He’s even decided to record in a real studio with a real producer rather than a bedroom.

A video was recently released that shows Wavves recording, smoking weed, and shooting hoops at a Missouri studio. It features previews of a few songs on the album and Williams discussing the artistic choices he made on King of the Beach.
