Those Foreign Kids unleash noise punk projectile “The Age of Horrible Sanity”, announce new LP

The world is forever changed, but there’s a silver lining: Amsterdam’s tenacious tandem Those Foreign Kids still sound like Those Foreign Kids. The specifics being: gung-ho garage rock bangers discharged with a deranged, high octane twist, all the rage for fans of Women, Pure Adult, Liars and No Age.

The duo’s new song “The Age Of Horrible Sanity” is a dynamite stick of flippant fury, suggesting the strange joy that’s unleashed in realising there’s no turning back from an impending cataclysm. Thusly, Marijn Westerlaken (guitars/effects) and Teun Heijmans (drums) might as well light it up and let it go. “Taking a famous Edgar Allan Poe quote and applying it to modern times, in which people who think of themselves as ‘the sane’ are partaking in a bizarre ritual of burning themselves out and over-consuming,” the band clarify about the gist behind all that sonic mayhem.

With “The Age Of Horrible Sanity”, Those Foreign Kids have announced new album Wrestlemania, out April 28 on Vibe/Anti-Vibe and Geertruida. Though it’s perceivable some chairs, tables and ladders may have been wrecked in the recording of the LP, Westerlaken’s explanation for the title is a lot more dispassionate. “You could also argue that finishing and releasing this album was quite a struggle due to various reasons including changes in our personal lives, the pandemic and a video that never got finished.”

Truth be told, it’s good to know Those Foreign Kids are back on their patented mischief-making. You can preorder Wrestlemania here. You can check out the video for “The Age Of Horrible Sanity” (warning: flashing images) below and find the song on streaming outlets.
