Super City share the smart and hooky “Hang Up”

“Hang Up” from Baltimore band Super City is about a telephonic disconnect, not a psychological condition. It’s the ultimate Thinking Person’s dance cut that will remind you of Blur, Gorillaz and Talking Heads.

This type of smart-rock has been notably absent from the charts in recent years, and it sounds fabulous. The crisp guitars and inviting synth work provide an excellent foundation – and the song’s video has a David Lynch-like feel. Lead singer/guitarist Greg Wellham gets most of the screen time, and he even looks like a young David Lynch in suit and tie.

The song is the perfect preview for the band’s In The Midnight Room album that arrives on October 20 on SofaBurn Records.

Baltimore has given us musical greatness before: Philip Glass, Billie Holiday, Tori Amos and more. Super City now wears the crown, and they have the talent to spark a brainy-band revival.
