The term “guilty pleasure” has always felt repugnant to me. Why should we feel guilty about the stuff we like? And why does it only ever seem to apply to the arts? You wouldn’t feel sheepishly about telling a friend you like broccoli, right?
Still, there’s clearly a commonly understood definition of the term and unquestionably that loose definition applies to “Return of the Mack,” the 1997 hit single from one hit wonder Mark Morrison. But my love for this song knows no limits and certainly no guilt.
