London indie-psych band Tempesst share “On The Run” and reveal debut album plans

London’s Tempesst have been quietly brewing their own brand of pop-psych-rock over the last few years with a series of singles and EPs. That’s all been building up to their debut album, which they’ve announced this week: it’s called Must Be A Dream and is set for release on September 30 through Pony Recordings. They’ve also shared the first single, “On The Run”, about which they say:

“‘On The Run’ was written about a close friend who disappeared for a decade and returned as someone completely different, and it’s an ongoing trauma. When I connected the music to the lyrics to try and finish the song, it felt like it had a rolling rhythm, so the chorus fell into place from there. For me, this song carries a lot more emotional weight.”

That’s a heavy backstory to this song, but Tempesst manage to balance the emotional heft with sparklingly bright melodies. “On The Run” fuses together classic jangle pop indie, dramatic storytelling, atmospheric vocal harmonies and an insatiable groove in an addictive mix. It’s more than enough to ensure you’ll keep re-listening to “On The Run” until you’ve picked out every detail in Toma Banjanin’s poetic lyricism.

Tempesst’s debut album Must Be A Dream is out September 30 on Pony Recordings. You can follow them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
