LIONSTORM take aim at macho culture in the princess xixi-featuring “Same But Different”

LIONSTORM have released another NSFW party banger called “Same But Different”. This time Skerrie Sterrie and Vuige Muis take aim at the macho imagery in hip-hop culture, flipping many of its tropes on their head. Though brash and ‘in your face’, “Same But Different” is ultimately an appeal for inclusivity by a culture that was formative for the Dutch rap duo. And this song is a way to bend it to LIONSTORM’s own boundary pushing whims.

“Same But Different”, like the recent previous singles, is another chapter in a more collaborative phase, where like-minded artists are mixed and matched within Skerrie Sterrie and Vuige Muis’s spicy pocket universe. This time they are in cahoots with Canadian based producer Hounds (known for his work with Yung Bambi), and princess xixi, a trans drill rapper from London.

LIONSTORM met the latter at a party hosted by Madge where both acts performed, and it clicked right away. “She immediately caught our eye. She’s so funny and goofy but so smart in her lyrics and deliverance. This song is actually very special to us because we’re inspired by a lot of horrorcore and trap metal and never thought about the fact that you hardly ever hear women use their voice in this way. We improvised most of the song in the booth and most people who heard the demo couldn’t believe it’s our real voice. That’s when we realized we never hear women scream like this. We definitely went new places and want to keep expanding this sound.”

LIONSTORM wouldn’t be LIONSTORM without a video full of striking, eyebrow arching mischief; that part of the whole deal be unveiled on January 18. Until then, blast “Same But Different” below, and find it on streaming outlets everywhere.
