So much for the idea of Tha Carter IV dropping as soon as Weezy’s out of prison. Wayne’s manager recently declared, “He’s going to probably start from scratch.” This means that the album certainly won’t be released in 2010, but you can expect a release somewhere in ’11 instead.
To tide fans over, I Am Not a Human Being, formerly an EP, has been declared an album. The tracks meant for IV will arrive on it, and considering they were likely recorded by Wayne in his drugged out Rebirth mind state, that may turn out to be a good thing. “I knew once he got out [of jail] those songs would be so old to him,” his manager stated, in quite a reversal from his previous boasting of the approaching material’s quality. So, from the sound of it, we can likely expect an album of throwaways in ’10, followed by what will hopefully be a renewed Wayne spitting from a post-prison outlook in ’11.
