Kalaallit Nunaat ramp up the “Pressure” with blistering slice of post-hardcore

Following up “Free Money”, Rotterdam noise punk outlaws Kalaallit Nunaat sound even more menacing on their new song “Pressure”, kicking off with razor-edged drums and a steel-shredding post-hardcore bassline. The accompanying video, evocatively laced with stop-motion animation by Kat Kalkman (maushaund, Neighbours Burning Neighbours, Nagasaki Swim) is equally frantic and unsettling, like some sinister chase scene across the port city’s angular cityscape.

The band haven’t revealed much about the song’s meaning, but the paranoid lyrics of David Pop suggest a dissociation from the so-called ‘good times’, and how they’re often obscured by feelings of alienation. “Pressure” offers another glimpse of upcoming EP Texoprint. It’s out on Glove Compartment, an offshoot of Groningen label Subroutine Records.
