Earlier this year, we shared indie pop arbiter Julietta‘s single, “Levitate”, and now, she’s returned.
Still preparing her upcoming Levitate EP, now due in February 2021, she’s dropped off another single, “Ghosted for the Beach”. This track is a fantasy, speaking on our collective desire to flee our isolation and buy a ticket to nowhere. For those that won’t shrug at the reference, it almost feels like a Western response to IU’s “Eight” (written in self-quarantine, and about her desire to flee to an imaginary island).
Julietta, naturally, takes a more subtle approach than the K-pop queen, and the results are delectable. Speaking on the track, she elaborates, “Sometimes I wake up not wanting to tell a story that’s my own but just fantasize about one that isn’t. This story is a fantasy. My fantasy. Running away and not having other opinions get in the way. I am always trying to do what’s right and please people and make sure they are happy. This song is about not doing that but instead breaking those chains and leaving the hands that hold me down behind.”
Look out for Julietta’s Levitate EP come February 5th, 2021. You can follow her on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
