Iconic singer-songwriter Jehnny Beth has today shared a new song and video called “Innocence”, while also revealing that she’s pushing back the release date of her debut solo album, To Love is To Live, to June 12.
Fortunately, “Innocence” is electrifying and hair-raising enough to sustain us for that bit longer. Shape shifting between crumbling beats, shards of synths and scraping atmospherics, “Innocence” shows Jehnny Beth’s inimitable presence in the starkest light yet. This feels like the amalgamation of all of her diverse influences, used as a platform to rise her up like a distinguished and unignorable leader of the masses.
Watch a live version of “Innocence” below, from rehearsals, to get a true sense of Jehnny Beth’s sharpness and magnetism. The studio version of “Innocence” is out on all streaming platforms.
Jennny Beth’s album will come out through Caroline Records on June 12. Regarding her decision to delay the release, she says:
“Record stores are where I found myself as a teenager, digging through albums that ultimately shaped who I have become. To release my first ever solo album in a way that would leave them out felt wrong to me; luckily, we were able to find a date that would allow us to release the physical and digital album at the same time.”
