LA artist Fiona Grey’s new single “Past Life Party Girl” is so infectious and danceable that I can envision even Joe Biden bopping to it. The song’s video (directed by the artist and Celeste Tauchar) is literally a mash-up, where pancakes, pies and Jello get smooshed during the dance delirium.
“Amanda Warner (MNDR) produced the track and played bass,” says Grey. “Our goal was to have a track that you could rollerblade to. I think her bass line definitely brought that energy. ‘Past Life Party Girl’ is my ode to how much fun getting older can be and owning your own confidence.”
Grey is an amazingly versatile artist, having given us the pulsating pop of “What You Want” – plus “You Are Loved”, which feels like a Beatles ballad that could have graced Rubber Soul.
Next spring, Fiona will release the first single from an album recorded in Rome. Many pop songs have alluded to that great city, but few have been recorded there. Fiona let the muse seize her (Caesar), so it promises to be one of next year’s most intriguing releases.
