Fleet Foxes are set to release their sophomore album in May but last summer, preceding the recording of that album, Robin Pecknold spent a lot of time touring as a solo act supporting the likes of Joanna Newsom. It comes as no surprise then that Pecknold has decided to make some recordings of his solo material, but rather than wait until he has a full album or EP he has decided to give the tracks away for free.
The most instantly eyecatching of the trio is “I’m Losing Myself” which is a duet with Ed Droste of Grizzly Bear. The other two include a Pecknold original “Derwentwater Stones” and a cover of New Zealand folk singer Chris Thompson called “Where Is My Wild Rose.”
