Nashville artist daena follows up her debut album Alter Ego with a pre-Halloween banger called “Vampire Girl”.
The new single will remind young fans of Olivia Rodrigo and Beth McCarthy, but to my ears it sounds like Liz Phair at her best (thanks to its crisp guitar work and ultra-catchy chorus and bridge).
“This is my scariest subject matter yet: a clingy situationship,” says daena. “It’s the perfect song to sink your teeth in this Halloween season.”
The New Jersey native is playing The Bluebird Café this week – Nashville’s premier showcase. She has the talent and energy to lead a power-pop revival, not just in Music City but worldwide.
