Caribbean-British newcomer BERWYN demands attention on debut single “GLORY”

Rising urban-soul artist BERWYN was born in Trinidad and raised in East London town Romford, and brings those cultural touchstones and life experiences to his startlingly honest music. You may have caught some glimpses of him on the recent Everything is Recorded album FRIDAY FOREVER, but today he steps into the spotlight with his own debut single “GLORY”.

On his first official outing, BERWYN wants us to get to know the tough, ambitious, god-fearing and soulful person that he is. Over quietly lulling piano chords, he raps about his life growing up on a council estate, working in Subway and dreaming of becoming a world-renowned artist. There are also references to his religious beliefs, which come into fruition when he opens up his exquisite voice to sing of the taste of “GLORY” in the simply gorgeous chorus. “GLORY” is an understated but irrefutable introduction for BERWYN, who is one to keep your ears on going forward.

BERWYN shot the video for “GLORY” himself in his flat, directed remotely by Brock Neale Roberts.

You’ll almost certainly want to know what BERWYN gets up to next, so make sure to follow him on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
