Watch: Gardland – “Nothing But Not Zero”

The latest video for song, “Nothing But Not Zero,” from Australian electronic duo Gardland revels in its ability to document the minuscule, tactile details of form and place.  Utilizing a fairly minimal array of keyboards and modulators, the band creates a song — a long-form examination, really — of the peaks, valleys, and  recesses of their own chromatic rhythms.  What at first listen sounds like a basic set of warbling percussion and slightly shaky synths slowly unfurls, allowing vast amounts of space to fill in the cracks.  And as the song billows out, riding some invisible electronic current, you can almost see the different landscapes that the duo are trying to explore.  The video does a good job of accentuating this idea, as it pans across dozens of organic and synthetic landscapes, with the music attaching some tangential significance to each.  Gardland’s upcoming debut, Syndrome Syndrome, is set to be released on October 29th via RVNG Intl.  Watch the video for “Nothing But Not Zero” below and check out a short run of European tour dates that the band has lined up in the near future.
