moa moa explore online sexual activity in the wonky pop bop “Information”, announce debut EP

Exciting and excitable South London quintet moa moa will consolidate the hype they’ve built up with their early singles by releasing a debut EP called Brain Feelings on April 1. They’ve also shared a new single called “Information”, with singer James Ratcliffe saying:

“Information is about exploring sexuality in an age of online promiscuity. After all the scandals about the NSA snooping and trading our nudes, I expected the culture to change around nudes, but it didn’t. Dick pics from strangers are like pocket change on Grindr, and I get it… I feel unperturbed knowing that random NSA employees may be trading genitals like baseball cards, and when I’m talking to a pretty girl or boy about private things, I just accept it’s not private – even though I wish it was.”

Even though Radcliffe seems quite downcast about the state of online privacy in the above quote, these feelings are belied by moa moa’s “Information”, which is an undeniably upbeat and groove-packed pop number. It’s an Italo-disco inspired track with plenty of moa moa’s uniquely characterful tones, a perfect contrast with Radcliffe’s monotone observations that mimic the coldness of online interaction. It’s also ripe with a twirling and skronking sax that weaves its way through the song, bouncing on each beat of the hefty low-end – overall it’s irrationally infectious.
