It may have been nearly five years since Isaiah Rashad offered new music, and he’s overcome some serious personal demons to do so, but let’s be honest: this moment is all about Duke Deuce.
Whether it’s the moves he’s hitting in the video, his already signature ad libs, or his fiery verse, the Memphis native is more than at home over “Lay with Ya”‘s Three 6 Mafia sampling romp, hell, he practically moves in. Coming in strong off his recent Duke Nukem project, Deuce knows just how much his presence is worth in 2021.
To be fair, the song is excitingly uncharacteristic of the usually more pensive Rashad, so it signals intriguing things ahead for his surely looming sophomore album.
