Rock and Roll Hall of Fame picks GnR, RHCP, Beastie Boys, and more

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has selected its 2012 inductees and it includes a few industry heavy-hitters in the Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Guns n Roses. Also included in this go around will be The Faces, Laura Nyro, and Donovan. The inclusion of more recent acts is something new to the hall, with Guns n Roses making it on their first nomination and the Red Hot Chili Peppers on just their second. Artists are eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 25 years after their first recording.

As always, many artists came up a little short, including The Cure, Eric B. and Rakim, Heart, Joan Jett, and Donna Summer. Many artists take numerous nominations before finally being inducted, and these artists will go back into the fold to compete next year. Eligible for the first time next year will be acts like the Pixies, Public Enemy, Jane’s Addiction, N.W.A., and George Michael.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held on April 14th.
