It’s rare that a band materializes out of nowhere to stun from the very start. Such occasions are often met with the buzz of the entire internet at their back, so when we came across Sydney, Australia’s Castratii we were a bit stunned that there hasn’t been a bit more chatter. Their brand of heavy synth-based dream pop seems a natural fit alongside fellow heavily shrouded female fronted projects like The Knife or iamamiwhoiam, though their unique spin on the sound comes from a Cocteau Twins-esque lightness and beauty. Sporting vocals from Liela Moss of The Duke Spirit, Castratii is poised to release their debut full length, Eora, on August 21st via Time No Place. Check below for the striking video for “Kingdom”, which is in itself a stunning representation of the dark, twisted pop music that Castratii brings to the table.
