Paul’s Boutique, a landmark album in hip-hop and sampling history. 20 years later, it still holds its ground. People have been saying for years that due to new copyright laws, Paul’s Boutique would never be able to remastered/re-release. Fortunately they were wrong.
Over at the Beastie Boys website is a splash page with the announcement of remaster along with a streaming remastered version of “And What You Give Is What You Get”, a Paul’s Boutique B-Side from An Exciting Evening At Home With Shadrach.
After digging deeper we discovered that a vinyl version will be available on January 27th and that a CD version will available on February 10th. Both versions feature restored artwork, bonus tracks (presumably the B-Sides), and a digital download code for track-by-track commentary from the Beastie Boys themselves. Oh and about “B-Boy Bouillabaisse”, they’ve split it into nine separate tracks. It doesn’t get better than that.
Hopefully this will tide you all over until then. Enjoy.
