The Weeknd literally exploded this year. But no acts roll out of the box quite as well-made as The Weeknd, they all start somewhere. Two songs have surfaced online from back in 2009 before The Weeknd made it big. They’ve got the seeds of Tesfaye’s style in them, and his voice sounds as great as ever, but they lack some of the grit and dirty production that went into making House of Balloons and Thursday. However, they’re both decent songs and still worth checking out at the least for pure interest.
