I first heard of Writer when I saw them live, opening up on a bill that also featured Cults and Guards. Despite there being only two of them (two brothers, Andy and Jayme Ralph, in fact), they managed to put on a performance that was just as memorable as the other bands on show that evening.
Writer have now repeated the trick of making something memorable with very little, but this time in visual form with the video for “Family Dinner.” The video features a group of happy young people partying, dancing, eating their cake, brushing their teeth – you know, all that fun stuff that young people like to do. Shot in a washed out, flickery form, the visuals lend themselves nicely to the crunchy guitar and rasping vocals of the song. Check it out below.
