Wet Leg visit a weird party in the boisterous “Angelica”

Wet Leg have already released four singles from their forthcoming debut album, but they keep revealing yet more bangers like a magician pulling rabbits out of a hat. Today they share “Angelica”, a song named after Rhian Teasdale’s oldest friend. On the song, she says:

“It’s laced with disenchantment. Even though the chorus is ‘good times, all the time’. That’s just impossible, isn’t it?”

Having already proven herself a master of relaying her dissatisfaction in her sardonic singing, Teasdale does it yet again on this jaunty new one. It finds her observing titular protagonist at a party, seeing her see-saw between joy and annoyance while searching for a good time. Simultaneously, the song sonically tips back and forth between bouncy bop and grinding guitar jam to emphasise this dynamic. It’s also packed with loads of weird details, whether about brining lasagne to a party or obliterating everyone with a ray gun.

Teasdale and Hester Chambers evidently had great fun making the video too, as it finds them dancing around, play fighting and hugging in a field of wheat on the sunny Isle of Wight coast. Watch the clip below or find the song on streaming platforms.

Wet Leg’s debut album Wet Leg comes out on April 8 through Domino (pre-order/save). Make sure to follow them on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and TikTok.
