There is plenty of talk right now about whether Broken Social Scene are breaking up or whatever, but, much like Wolf Parade, all the chatter seems to sound like what happens to every band in which the players all have their own projects: they take extended breaks and eventually they get back together and record a new album. So, I wouldn’t worry too much if I was a Broken Social Scene fan, it just might be a few years before we hear from them again.
That being said, the band performed Saturday night at the Fillmore in San Francisco and got a little help from Isaac Brock of Modest Mouse on “The Good Times Are Killing Me.” The long clip offers a humorous glimpse of what makes this band so great, as they struggle to get the song right and argue on stage, eventually delivering something that is powerful and memorable.
