Vivian Girls bassist Katy Goodman is currently touring with solo project La Sera and the band has already indicated that the new Vivian Girls record should be released in Spring, so now would be the perfect time for Vivian Girls’ frontwoman Cassie Ramone to sow some side-project oats.
Well, she apparently agreed, as The Babies have announced their debut self-titled LP, due out February 8th on Shrimper. The four-piece was started by Ramone and ex-housemate Kevin Morby, bassist for psych-folk outfit Woods, and looks to be on full-steam-ahead mode. They have a west coast tour scheduled for January, are planning to record their follow-up in Los Angeles over in the next few months, and are going to head to Europe in the Spring.
Here is the tracklisting for the album and you can hear a couple of the tracks at their Myspace. “Meet Me In The City” is particularly refreshing.
