As the press release points out, “the best thing about ghost folk is you can play it after you’re dead.” Sure that’s morbid, but intriguing, no? This is the brand of music that Spectre Folk is selling, and with Pete Nolan of the Magik Markers leading, it shouldn’t be too hard.
Nolan is joined by Sonic Youth drummer Steve Shelley, The Grey Lady’s Peter Meehan, and Aaron Mullen (Tall Firs) over the course of four tracks, which promise to accelerate the project’s previous sound. I also hear rumor of a gong solo. Check out the title cut below and the track listing from The Blackest Medicine II, which will see release March 29th on Woodsist.
