robrobrob is enchanting on “Still Alive”

One of the most interesting niches in pop music is the โ€œmelodic houseโ€ movement that brings gorgeous melodies and insightful lyrics to the world of electronica. The new song โ€œStill Aliveโ€ from UK artist robrobrob is a perfect example.

While house music has long been hailed for its rhythmic richness and sonic textures, songs like โ€œStill Aliveโ€ contain those elements but are anchored by superb songcraft.

If youโ€™re wondering why robrobrob sounds suspiciously like Tailor (another UK act), itโ€™s because both are the handiwork of Robert Taylor. โ€œTailor is a purely collaborative project where Iโ€™m mostly writing and singing and robrobrob is all me (producing, writing and singing),โ€ says the artist.

โ€œโ€˜Still Aliveโ€™ is about letting go of the things you thought made you alive, but realising youโ€™re more alive without them,โ€ says Taylor. โ€œIt was inspired by the change in my world after becoming a father.โ€

Itโ€™s clear that robrobrob could have a hugehugehuge impact on melodic house,ย along with composers like Ben Bรถhmer, whose recent collab โ€œHidingโ€ with Swedish singer Lykke Li is majestically melodic.
